| When ordering an enclosure, we feel that your choices should not be limited. For over 40 years, we have excelled in providing a superior line of precision custom and standard (NEMA, UL, and CUL) enclosures to the electronic, communication, and control industries. Our knowledgeable staff will assist you in selecting, designing, or modifying an enclosure to fit your individual application. Each cabinet is made-to-order directly from your specifications. This flexibility enables us to add detailing at the manufacturing level, eliminating the need for after market reworking.
NEMA 1: Type 1General Purpose Indoor Enclosure - Type 1 enclosures are intended for use indoors, primarily to prevent accidental contact of personnel with the enclosed equipment, in areas where unusual service conditions do not exist. Commercial's enclosures or any other NEMA TYPE also meet NEMA TYPE 1 criteria.
NEMA 3: Type 3Dust Tight, Rain Tight, and Sleet Resistant Outdoor Enclosure - Type 3 enclosures are intended for use outdoors to protect the enclosed equipment against wind-blown dust and water. They are not sleet-proof (ice-proof). They shall have conduit hubs or equivalent provisions for watertight connection at the conduit entrance, and provision for locking. ORDERING- A series N12 (NEMA12) and series N4 (NEMA 4) with the addition of series DS (Drip Shield) will meet Type 3 requirements.
NEMA 3R: Type 3RDust Tight, Rain Tight, and Sleet Resistant Outdoor Enclosure - Type 3R enclosures are intended for outdoor use primarily to provide a degree of protection against falling rain and sleet; ice-proof.
NEMA 4: Type 4Watertight, Dust Tight, Indoor and Outdoor Enclosure - Type 4 enclosures are intended for use indoors or outdoors to protect the enclosed equipment against splashing water and severe external condensation. They are sleet-resistant but not sleet-proof (ice-proof).
NEMA 4X: Type 4XWater Tight, Dust Tight, and Corrosion Resistant - Indoor and Outdoor - Type 4X enclosures have the same provisions as Type 4 enclosures. In addition, they are corrosion resistant while providing a degree of protection against windblown dust and rain, splashing water and hose-directed water; undamaged by the formation of ice on the enclosure.
NEMA 12: Type 12Industrial Use Dust Tight and Drip Tight Indoor - Type 12 enclosures are intended for use indoors to protect and enclosed equipment against: fibers and flying lint, dust and dirt, splashing, seepage, dripping and external condensation of non-corrosive liquids. Doors shall be provided with oil-resistant gaskets.
